March 2000 Newsletter - Alumni News

Mrs. Hannah White, housemother at Zeta Chi from 1965's to 1971, died March 10, 2000 at St. Joseph, Missouri. She was 91 years old. After leaving Zeta Chi, Mrs. White served as housemother at Denious Hall for two years, then moved back to St. Joseph, Missouri. Mrs. White was a member of Huffman United Methodist Church in St. Joseph.

Although Mrs. White "retired" as housemother in 1971, she maintained a keen interest in the activities of the men of Zeta Chi for the remainder of her life. The letters she received from Zeta Chi alums were eagerly awaited each Christmas. She also scoured the Zeta Chi Newsletter to obtain a detailed summary of each Stag: members present, awards received and current status of the active chapter. The Men of Zeta Chi held a special place in her heart.

Marjorie Depoe '54
Sad to say that Joe Depoe passed away Feb. 5, 2000 after a 6 weeks stay in ICU. Doctors were unable to find the cause of his high temp. He suffered several small strokes that didn't show on a CAT scan. He had never been on that end of the doctor business. We had a nice memorial service for Joe at our Methodist Church. He touched many people in the doctor business and otherwise.

Ken Richardson '92  was married to Kim ???? on October 9, 1999

Sean Fulton '92  and Amy Pruitt Fulton '92 announce the birth of Nathan Alexander on October 12th, 1999.

Matt Magle '92  and Kelleigh Temple Magle '93 announce the birth of Logan Patrick on October 29, 1999.

John Austin '92  and Janelle Gann '91 were married on November 6, 1999

Sorry, I sent my notice back indicating I could not attend, but did not include dues. Here is a check for dues and a little extra. Best to all the Brothers!!

Janet Larson, friend
I know my parents really enjoyed your newsletters over the years. Thank you for sending them. Their days at Baker is what brought them together and possibly kept them together for 72 years. My father Neville Larson died in January 1994. My mother Marian Kraft Larson passed away July 5, 1997.Thank you again for your loyalty to my family. Please use this check wherever you deem necessary.

Mrs. Roy Stoskopf, friend
Got a bunch of mail yerterday but the 1st one I opened to read was ZX newsletter. There aren't many names that are familiar but enjoy reading of the chapter doings. There were many Stoskopfs and Chubbs who went to Baker and were ZX's but my one and only was Roy. Had a long visit with Roger Thompson, Roy's very good friend. So nice to hear from him and know he's still going strong. So many of us aren't. This is the 60th class reunion this year at Baker but so very many of us are gone or can't make it for some reason or other. I'm still traveling when and wherever possible. The only continent Roy and I hadn't been to was South America. Got that taken care of last fall. Have 2 or 3 more jaunts planned. The best to all of you.

John Arnold '43
Thank you for the informational Newletter! As I wrote you when I sent in my dues recently I will be unable to be at the Stag this year. We will be in Missoula, Montana attending the Montana University Graduation exercises of our Grandson. Sorry to miss the meeting. Hopefully next year! Note that our address is in North Carolina and not Northern California as carried in the Newsletter! All is well with Vera Rose and I. The azaleas are in full bloom and the crop of strawberries are great again this year.
